Where did my Job Go

According the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics unemployment reached a staggering 9.8% in the United States by the beginning of October 2009. Thousands are graduating from college just to find out that their college degree can only land them a job at Starbucks (and that's if their lucky, the economic meltdown has caused many Starbucks locations to shut down). Instead of facing the realities of a feeble job market, these college grads are opting to stay in school. Many of the unemployed are also looking to go back to school to hone in on new skills in the hopes of becoming more competitive in the depleting job market. The formula college = job is no longer accurate.

What about the older workforce? Job security is almost inexistent as many companies have been forced to cut back. Where did our jobs go? Are they permanently outsourced to countries where labor is cheaper? Or is the job scarcity an economic norm that accompanies any recession?

Manuel Benitez Deputy Director fires people at will based on the color of your skin. The history of this company show that all firing and layoff were done to minorties.

Comments: I think Globally we have a job problem. We have to figure out away where people are able to keep food on the table and to provide hot running water. However I think jobs will come back if we can carve the greed from Gov't mandated programs. I think all Gov't needs to wake up especially the Gov't in the USA since they are leading the world.

Comments: President Barack Obama is considering all options to create jobs, including another stimulus package well I can help the president first of all carve workers comp and taxes bring incentives to companies instead of red tape and bureaucracy then you'll create jobs companiies are willing to hire. Copanies want to hire people but can not too expensive.

Comments: Hmmmmmm..all of this is not just because of the car companies and big business. Manufacturing companies more or less had their hands tied when it came to buying from overseas vs made in the USA...the cost to import is far less than to make here..BUT...the quality is bad..I have seen it first hand. It s' a case of bad government.

Comments: It just seems like the U.S. was more innovative back in the day than today. It seems like there is more competition now and we're slacking. I.E. U.S. car companies could barely stay in biz b/c the japanese and europeans make better cars also huge education cuts were made in CA, if this becomes the trend how are we to maintain an innovative edge?

Comments: Well,..buying from overseas has always been a BIG pet peeve of mine.I knew it would never lead to anything good. Besides causing so many in the USA to lose jobs...the literal garbage that comes from overseas is staggering. When I HAD a job,I saw pallets and pallets of product that we bought from China that had to be scrapped because it was trash.
